Hydrogen Production/Electrolysis:
Pressure upto 50 bar
Type of Valves to be used: Ball Valves / Check Valves / Double Block and Bleed
- Usually larger sized Valves are used in the production of Hydrogen
- Automated Ball Valves for production facilities improves efficiency and safety
- Double isolation and Bleed function helps in various situation like, System maintenance, malfunctioning of one valve, releasing trapped pressure
Hydrogen Storage and Transportation:
Pressure upto 700 bar (10000 psi)
Type of Valves to be used: Ball Valves / Needle Valves / Check Valves
- For Storage and Transportation, Hydrogen needs to be compressed at higher pressures. This is achieved by smaller sized Ball Valves upto 2” DN50.
- Needle Valves are used for slow opening and regulate the flow to avoid unwanted pressure surges in the system, usually termed as Water hammer effect also.
- Check Valve prevent reverse flow and prevent malfunctioning of the compressors and other system accessories.
Hydrogen Refuelling/End Usage:
Pressure upto 500/1000 bar (15000 psi)
Type of Valves to be used: Ball Valves / Needle Valves / Check Valves
- Manual Needle Valves are preferred option for pressure relief and slow opening but are difficult to automate.
- Automated Ball valves are preferred for On/Off applications, they are compact, quick and very efficient.
